Refund policy

At KINGPIN Fab, we’re a small one-man workshop supplying parts to the Land Rover Defender and 4WD community. We genuinely want people to get the right gear, have a good experience, and be looked after when something has gone wrong.

At the same time, we are not a large chain store with endless stock, buying power, or a corporate returns department. Many parts we supply are low-volume, specially ordered, custom-made, cut, modified, or difficult to resell. Because of that, we need a clear and fair returns policy so we can keep supporting the Defender community without putting the business at risk.

This policy does not limit your rights under the Australian Consumer Law.

Australian Consumer Law

Our goods and services come with guarantees that cannot be excluded under the Australian Consumer Law.

If a product or service fails to meet a consumer guarantee, you may be entitled to a repair, replacement, refund, cancellation, or compensation depending on the situation and whether the issue is considered major or minor.

If there is a major problem with a product, you may be entitled to choose a refund or replacement. If the problem is minor, we may choose to repair the item, replace it, or otherwise fix the issue within a reasonable time.

We are entitled to assess the product or issue before providing a remedy.

Change of Mind Returns

Please choose carefully before ordering.

We do not normally offer refunds, returns, or exchanges if you:

  • change your mind
    order the wrong part
    no longer need the item
    find the item cheaper elsewhere
    choose the wrong size, side, model, or vehicle variant
    purchase an item that does not suit your build because of incorrect information supplied to us

For Defender parts especially, small model-year and conversion differences can matter. If you are unsure, please contact us before ordering so we can help where possible.

Any change-of-mind return is at our discretion and must be approved by KINGPIN Fab before the item is sent back.

Custom, Special Order, Modified, or Made-to-Order Items

Custom-made, modified, cut-to-length, powder-coated, fabricated, specially ordered, or made-to-order items cannot be returned for change of mind, incorrect ordering, or because the customer no longer requires the item.

This includes parts ordered specifically for your vehicle, build, conversion, or request.

This does not affect your rights under Australian Consumer Law if the product has a genuine fault, is not as described, or otherwise fails to meet a consumer guarantee.

Order Cancellations

Once an order has been placed, it may already be in progress, ordered from a supplier, cut, fabricated, packed, or allocated to your job.

Cancellations are not automatic and must be approved by KINGPIN Fab.

If we approve a cancellation, we may deduct reasonable costs already incurred, including supplier charges, freight costs, payment processing fees, labour, materials, or other unrecoverable costs.

For special order, custom, fabricated, modified, or made-to-order items, cancellation may not be possible once work has started or the item has been ordered from our supplier.

Faulty, Damaged, or Incorrect Items

If you believe an item is faulty, damaged, incorrect, or not as described, please contact us as soon as possible.

Please provide:

  • your order number
  • a clear description of the issue
  • photos or video showing the problem
  • photos of the packaging if the item was damaged in freight
  • vehicle details where relevant

We may need to inspect the product before confirming the best remedy.

Depending on the situation, we may offer a repair, replacement, refund, store credit, or another remedy required under Australian Consumer Law.

Installation, Fitment, and Use

Many products sold by KINGPIN Fab are technical 4WD, fabrication, suspension, driveline, engine conversion, or vehicle-specific parts.

We are not responsible for problems caused by:

  • incorrect installation
  • misuse or abuse
  • modification after supply
  • accident damage
  • poor maintenance
  • use outside the product’s intended purpose
  • incorrect vehicle information supplied by the customer
  • fitment to a modified vehicle where the modification affects compatibility
  • installation by someone without suitable mechanical knowledge or skill

If a product has been installed, modified, damaged, painted, powder-coated, welded, cut, drilled, or otherwise altered after delivery, it may not be accepted for a change-of-mind return.

This does not affect your Australian Consumer Law rights where a genuine consumer guarantee issue exists.

Return Approval

Do not send items back without contacting us first.

Returns must be approved by KINGPIN Fab before being shipped or dropped off. Unapproved returns may be refused or returned to sender.

For approved returns, goods must be returned within 14 days of approval unless we agree otherwise.

Items must be returned in suitable packaging to prevent damage in transit. Courier drivers can be rough, so please pack the item properly.

Return Condition

For approved change-of-mind returns, items must be:

  • unused
  • uninstalled
  • undamaged
  • complete with all supplied parts
  • in original or suitable packaging
  • in a condition suitable for resale

Items returned damaged, incomplete, used, installed, or poorly packaged may be refused or may have costs deducted from any refund or credit.

Return Shipping

For change-of-mind or incorrectly ordered items, the customer is responsible for return shipping costs.

For confirmed faults or issues covered by Australian Consumer Law, we will handle return shipping or reimburse reasonable return shipping costs where required by law.

If an item is returned as faulty and, after assessment, is found not to have a fault or the issue was caused by installation, misuse, damage, or incorrect application, the customer may be responsible for inspection, return freight, or related costs.

Refunds

Where a refund is approved, it will usually be processed back to the original payment method where possible.

Refunds may take several business days to appear depending on your bank, payment provider, or Shopify payment processing times.

Shipping, transaction, supplier, or handling costs may be deducted from discretionary change-of-mind returns where legally allowed and clearly applicable.

Where a refund is required under Australian Consumer Law, we will provide the refund or remedy required by law.

Exchanges and Store Credit

Where appropriate, we may offer an exchange or store credit, especially where the customer has ordered the wrong item and the part is still new, unused, and suitable for resale.

Exchanges and store credits for change-of-mind or incorrectly ordered items are offered at KINGPIN Fab’s discretion.

Clearance and Sale Items

Clearance, discounted, discontinued, or sale items are not returnable for change of mind unless we agree otherwise.

This does not affect your Australian Consumer Law rights if the item has a genuine fault, is not as described, or fails to meet a consumer guarantee.
