Heavy Defender clutch pedal?

THE REVOLUTIONARY POWERspring PEDAL KIT

We have designed an affordable, cost effective pedal assist spring that reduces the weight of the pedal significantly.

As seen in the Land Rover Owners International Magazine!

THIS IS 45% STRONGER/ LIGHTER THAN THE LAND ROVER OVER-CENTRE SPRING AS FITTED TO TDCI VEHICLES

– 45% lighter than OEM “Pedal assist spring”

-80% lighter than no spring at all! (When retro fitted to TD5/ 300Tdi etc)

1. Does the POWERspring fit my DEFENDER?

The LOF POWERspring will fit Defender models 300TDI, TD5 and also TDCI PUMA vehicles.

In order to double check that it will fit, simply take a look at your clutch pedal:

• If the clutch pedal arm is a flat sheet of steel in terms of profile – IT FITS!
• If the clutch pedal arm is a U shaped formed steel profile, unfortunately it wont fit, but there is a solution! Simply remove the older 200TDI style pedal box (6 bolts in the footwell) and refit with the later style pedal box – Part number SKB500280 (sold separately)

2. How easy is the spring to fit?

*SEE FITTING VIDEO ABOVE*

5-10 minutes to fit

You will need:

• 2 pairs of mole-grips/ Pliers (ideally long nose)
• 1x medium flat headed screw driver
• 1 suitable sized pole/ something to wedge the pedal down

See our step-by-step fitting video at tthe top of this product info.

**Disclaimer – Take care not to break the U shaped bush supplied, although this is a Genuine LR part, it is injection moulded and is easily damaged!**

Wedge the pedal down to the floor using a piece of wood/metal bar (Perfect length is 50cm)

LOF TOP TIP FOR FITTING: The lower the pedal, the easier to fit.  On the back of the pedal box in the engine bay, there is a 17mm bump stop bolt, wind this out to allow the pedal to go lower while fitting. Then once fitted, wind the bolt inwards, until the pedal stops sticking down. The spring may over power the clutch pedal if it is allowed to go to far over centre, hence winding the bolt back in stops it holding the pedal down!

EXTREMEspec MT82 Solid Output Shaft Kit

The Ultimate Fix for Defender 2.4 / 2.2 TDCi Worn Output Shafts

On Defender 2.4 and 2.2 TDCi models, one failure is almost guaranteed sooner or later:
the splined coupling shaft between the MT82 gearbox and the LT230 transfer case wearing out and destroying drive.

From factory, Land Rover assembled the coupling 100% dry, with no grease at all — and that decision causes premature spline wear and eventual spline failure.

Common symptoms include:

• Clunking when taking up drive

• Clunking on deceleration

• Intermittent or sudden loss of drive

• In advanced cases: complete drivetrain failure

For years, LOF supplied the updated genuine kit (now supplied with EP grease). After moving more than 500 units, it became clear: there was room to engineer a better, permanent fix.

Introducing the LOF EXTREMEspec MT82 Solid Output Shaft Kit

Developed over 2 years with industry specialists, this is the definitive, engineered-for-life solution to the MT82 coupling problem.

Why this design is superior

Simple:
We’ve removed the failing coupling entirely.

Instead of a two-piece arrangement with a separate coupling that wears out, the EXTREMEspec kit uses a one-piece solid shaft, following the proven layout of earlier Land Rover drivetrains.

The shaft is secured using a central M12 draw bolt, ensuring a positive, constant clamping load against the back of the MT82 gearbox.
No movement.
No fretting.
No spline wear.
No weak points.

This is the fix the Defender should have had from factory.

What’s included in the LOF EXTREMEspec Kit?

• 1 × LOF EXTREMEspec Solid Output Shaft

• 1 × M12 Long Cap-Head Draw Bolt

• 1 × Nord-Lock Washer Set (M12)

• 1 × Special Retaining-Bolt Adapter

• 1 × Genuine MT82 Rear Drive Shaft Seal (LR0058800)

• 1 × Genuine Corteco Transfer Box Seal (ICV100000)

• 1 × M22 Grub-Screw Slide-Hammer Adapter

  • (Important: This tool is supplied for removal only — do NOT install it with the shaft. Keep it in your toolbox for future use.)

Heavy Defender/ Series 3 clutch pedal?

THE REVOLUTIONARY POWERmaster

We have designed an affordable, cost effective Master cylinder that reduces the weight of the pedal significantly.

This Master can be fitted to All Defenders & Series 3, Also can be fitted with LOF POWERspring for best results

*Cannot be fitted in conjunction with the LOF POWER Slave cylinder* * Please do not fit with a brand new clutch until it is fully bedded in *

– 30% lighter than OEM set up

1. Does the POWERmaster fit my vehicle?

The LOF POWERmaster will fit Defender & Series models fitted with a ‘Girling type’ Master as standard, part number STC500100.

2. How easy is the Master to fit?

*SEE FITTING INSTRUCTIONS BELOW*

25 minutes to fit

You will need:

• Brake Fluid
• 10, 11, 13, 14mm open ended spanners
• 10mm socket, extension and ratchet
• bleeding kit not necessary but can help
• Phillips screw driver

4. Fitting Instructions:

1. Disconnect pipe from master cylinder
2. Undo the retaining bolt for the bulkhead mounted header tank (TD5/ TDCI)
3. Undo the 6 screws on the top of the clutch pedal box
4.  Remove 2x 13mm nuts securing the master push rod to the pedal assembly
5. Unplug the clutch switch cable (TD5/ TDCI)
6. Now wedge the pedal down and undo the two mounting bolts holding it to the clutch pedal box
7. Withdraw master cylinder from pedal box

Refitting is the reversal, making sure to use the new 1/2 width Nyloc nut provided, set the pedal inline with the brake pedal and bleed the system, leave the cover plate off while test driving, taking 2x 13mm spanners to adjust as necessary! You can raise the biting point by raising the position of the pedal using the two lock nuts on the master push rod.

Tips for installing & Bleeding

1. Use a pipe clamp / soft jaw grips on the flexi hose hose to retain the majority of Brake fluid
2. Bleeding can be a little awkward, if you think there is air in the system, you can wedge the clutch pedal down over night to allow the air to rise to the top of the system.
3. On the Defender if you need to increase clearance; this can be done by adjusting the master cylinder pushrod to move the pedal assembly further away from the bulkhead increasing the stroke

Heavy Td5 clutch pedal?

THE REVOLUTIONARY POWERslave

We have designed an affordable, cost effective Slave cylinder that reduces the weight of the pedal significantly.

LOF POWERspec 2.8 TGV Heavy-Duty Clutch Kit

A serious clutch for 2.8 TGV, VNT Tdi and hard-working Land Rover builds.

Originally developed for the International HS 2.8 TGV, this POWERspec kit is also a direct bolt-on option for suitable 200Tdi and 300Tdi applications where extra torque capacity is needed. It suits towing, loaded touring, competition use and higher-output Tdi builds, including VNT-equipped engines.

The same clutch specification is also used in selected OM606 diesel conversions and Lexus 1UZ V8 conversions. These conversion applications depend on the flywheel, adapter and gearbox package being used, so they should be confirmed before ordering rather than treated as universal bolt-on fitment.

Conversion applications

• International HS 2.8 TGV Land Rover applications.
• 200Tdi / 300Tdi builds needing more clutch capacity, including tuned and VNT setups.
• OM606 conversions using a compatible Land Rover/R380 flywheel and adapter arrangement.
• Lexus 1UZ conversions using a compatible flywheel, adapter and gearbox arrangement.

If you are using the clutch behind an engine conversion rather than a standard Tdi/TGV installation, send KINGPIN the engine, gearbox, flywheel and adapter details so the setup can be checked before ordering.

Why choose the TGV POWERspec?

• Designed around the higher torque output of the International HS 2.8 TGV.
• Suitable for tuned and VNT-equipped 200Tdi / 300Tdi applications.
• Heavy-duty friction material with a high-torque sprung centre hub.
• Built for towing, expedition weight, off-road competition and hard-working vehicles.
• Pedal effort remains usable for a heavy-duty clutch setup.

Kit contents

• LOF POWERspec heavy-duty friction plate.
• Uprated heavy-duty clutch cover.
• LOF EXTREMEspec release bearing, replacing FTC5200.
• OEM spigot bush.
• G90 high-temperature assembly grease.
• CNC wire-formed bearing retaining clip.
• CNC wire-formed pushrod retaining clip.
• Six high-tensile clutch-cover bolts.

Optional MWM rear main seal

Add the genuine MWM-style upgraded rear crankshaft seal for $175 extra. It is the preferred upgrade for 2.8 TGV and 300Tdi applications where the rear main seal is being replaced while the gearbox is already out.

300Tdi MWM seal fitment: the MWM rear main seal is not a simple bolt-on to a standard 300Tdi block. The block requires modification for correct fitment, including drilling and tapping the additional lower fixing points. If you are unsure about the machining or preparation required, confirm the installation with KINGPIN before fitting.

R380 / driveline note

The stronger sprung centre can make existing gearbox backlash more noticeable. LOF notes that worn R380 gearboxes can exhibit additional gear chatter with this clutch. This is a characteristic worth considering on high-kilometre or worn transmissions.
